YA ASSOCIATE, PART-TIME

The Memorial and Library Association of Westerly is seeking a dynamic, creative individual to assist the YA Librarian in a busy Teen Space. The Young Adult Associate will assist in planning, preparing, and implementing programs for young adults (grades 6-12); creating and maintaining displays; shelving, shelf-reading, and weeding of Young Adult Collections; and provide outreach programming for young adults. Additional duties may include supervising volunteers, providing computer assistance to patrons, enforcing library policy and assisting in other library departments as needed.

Hours and Pay:

Starting rate is $16 per hour. 25 hours per week. Will be required to work some nights and Saturdays.

Qualifications:

CHILDREN'S ROOM ASSOCIATE, PART-TIME

Westerly Library and Wilcox Park seeks a collaborative, detail-oriented, highly enthusiastic, and public service oriented individual to work in their busy Children’s Department. The ideal candidate will possess an ability to work with children of all ages and their families. 

Duties:

Duties include assisting with Children’s Room programs, assisting patrons in locating books on our shelves and reserving books through interlibrary loans, answering phones, and shelving materials. Additional duties may include developing online and in person programs, providing computer assistance to patrons, enforcing library policy, and assisting in other library departments as needed. 

Qualifications:

Must have excellent communication skills, ability to shelve books in proper alphabetical and numerical order and possess mid- level computer skills. High School diploma or equivalent required. Public service and/or library experience a plus. 

Hours and Pay:

19 hours per week. $16 per hour. Will be required to work some nights and Saturdays. The current hours for this position are:

        • Tuesday: 4-8
        • Wednesday: 3-8
        • Thursday: 12-5
        • Friday: 9-2 or 1-6 (if working Saturday, then Friday would be off)
        • Saturday 11-4 (once every 4 weeks)
