If you're a fan of books and food, this club is for you!
Once a month, the Cookbook Club meets in the 3rd floor Terrace Room from 6:00-7:30pm. Each meeting will focus on a different cookbook, which is made available for check-out at the Reference Desk 3 weeks in advance. Each participant is asked to bring a dish from the book to share with a group - bringing your own place-setting is also encouraged, but not required!
This month's selection is The Smitten Kitchen by Deb Perelman
We all have data that we need to think about, organize, and draw useful conclusions from. Whether it be a personal or household budget, something for work, or planning for holidays, spreadsheets are often the most useful ways to look at and organize any amount of data quickly.
In this class, we'll walk you through the basics of making and navigating spreadsheets, as well as what tasks can be automated to the program, and which tasks have to be done by hand.
Whether it be something as simple as typing a letter, or as complex as writing a novel, everyone needs to make use of a word processing program at some point. For people who don't use one regularly, the sheer variety of options and commands that are offered can be completely overwhelming, especially if you're used to older technology.
The internet is one of the most powerful tools that we use in our everyday lives. From streaming videos, to doing research, to keeping in touch with our family, it touches all parts of our life, and is a constant companion that it seems like everyone else just assumes you know how to use. When you don't know what they mean, come see us, and we'll help you get caught up.
In this course, we'll learn about the parts of some common internet browsers, search engines, and websites, and also discuss safe and unsafe browsing habits.
New to using computers? We're well aware of how frusturating and intimidating it can be to catch up with new technology, especially when everyone else seems like an expert.
In this class on basic computer use, we'll cover how to use a mouse or touchpad to interact with a computer, and perform a variety of excercises that are aimed at getting you to feel comfortable with common things you will need to do.
