Heather Faubert, Research Associate at University of RI Department of Plant Sciences and Entomology, will discuss how to identify the Gypsy and Winter Moth and Asian Longhorn beetle. She will inform us of their habitats and ways to deter them in an effort to control or reduce populations. The consumption of our Spring leaf emergence is one of our biggest issues throughout New England with these insect invaders. The importance of uncovering these insects’ individual, destructive eating habits and discussing the answers of how to protect our trees, yards, and forests from these invaders will be discussed.
Presented as part of the Master Gardener Lecture Series at Westerly Library.
