Policies and Plans

Westerly Library and Wilcox Park offer a variety of programs that promote the enjoyment of reading and provide information for the community in keeping with our mission to "strengthen community and enrich lives by stimulating intellect and sparking imagination through access to literature, information, technology, nature, and the arts." 

We strive to meet the needs of our users today and anticipate future needs. We are pleased to present our 2019-2022 Strategic Plan. This plan will guide our us into the future and assist in meeting those needs. 

It is our policy to provide an accessible place for cultural and educational activities. It is our policy to affirm First Ammendment rights of individuals and groups to express and hear all points of view, in line with the American Library Association Code of Ethics, II: "We uphold the principles of intellectual freedom and resist all efforts to censor library resources." 

The library's decision to co-sponsor programs is based upon quality, space availability, and community interest, regardless of the beliefs or affiliaitons of those making the request. (ALA Library Bill of Rights VI) All library-sponsored or co-sponsored programs are open to the public, handicapped accessible, and free of charge.

Public programs may include but are not limited to: book discussions and lectures, concerts in the park and library, story times and crafts for children, movies, and workshops for all ages in writing, chess, horticulture, the arts, theater, and various technologies, and movies.

In order to provide equal access to all our users, we ask that they follow our basic library rules and policies.
