Join us for a lecture about barn owls and barn owl restoration and recovery with local raptor specialist, Joseph Zbyrowski. This presentation will include a slide show and an emphasis on barn owl characteristics including physical features and behavior. He will also discuss restoration methods to encourage the owls to nest and reproduce to help conserve this beautiful species.
About the presenter:
Joseph Zbyrowski is a raptor specialist who has been working with hawks and owls for more than 30 years. He is a retired teacher of environmental science, master bird bander, former raptor rehabilitator, and has done volunteer work with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, and the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. He conducts an annual hawk migration count in RI and is currently involved with Peregrine Falcon and Barn Owl restoration projects.
