About the musicians:

Ann Kuo, an accomplished flutist, is furthering her education at the esteemed Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. Under the mentorship of Jim Walker, she has distinguished herself as the youngest and first Taiwanese flutist to join the elite Colburn Music Academy. Ann has garnered accolades for her musical prowess, including Third Prize at the National Flute Association Young Artists Competition. Her international acclaim extends to victories in competitions such as the International Flute Competition Guangzhou, Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition, Biwako International Flute Competition, and the National Taiwan Music Student Competition. Ann's repertoire covers a broad range of styles, from classical solo and chamber music to jazz and pop, demonstrating her musical adaptability. She has graced stages in the USA, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Japan, infusing her performances with her distinctive style and Taiwanese heritage, which have established her as a pioneering and enthralling artist. As a soloist, she has performed with prestigious ensembles like the Colburn Orchestra and the Mount Orchestra and has held recitals in both the USA and Taiwan.

Annis Ma is an accomplished violist, currently pursuing her Master's degree at the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Misha Amory and Hsin-Yun Huang. She is a recipient of the Bernice and Howard Levinson Fellowship at Curtis and has been awarded a full scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. Annis holds the position of principal violist in several prestigious orchestras, including the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, Verbier Festival Orchestra, and Colburn Orchestra. In 2017, she was honored as the youngest Hong Kong Young Music Maker by Hong Kong Radio Television, and won the Overall Champion title at the 5th Hong Kong International Music Festival. As an artist with Musicus Soloist Hong Kong, Annis has performed around the world. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree at the Colburn Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Paul Coletti, Tatjana Masurenko, and Teng Li.

Yoshino Toi is a dynamic performer, collaborator, and educator, known for her achievements in numerous prestigious competitions. She has earned top honors at the Brevard Music Center Piano Competition, Duo Competition at Music Academy of the West, Paranov Concerto Competition at The Hartt School, Musical Club of Hartford’s Scholarship Competition, and the Renee B. Fisher Piano Competition, where she was also awarded Best Performance of the Commissioned Work. Yoshino has participated in renowned festivals, including Music Academy of the West, Sarasota Music Festival, Manchester Music Festival, Frost Chopin Music Academy and Festival, Brevard Music Center, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and duo526 Sonata Seminar. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Collaborative Piano at the New England Conservatory, studying with Pei-Shan Lee and Cameron Stowe. Yoshino holds a Performer’s Diploma in Collaborative Piano and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Jacobs School of Music. Prior to her graduate studies, she earned a Bachelor of Music degree from The Hartt School on a full scholarship, where she was a member of the elite chamber music ensemble, Performance 20/20. Her teachers include Dr. Futaba Niekawa, Dr. Charles Prestinari, Anne Epperson, Norman Krieger, Dr. David Westfall, and Malgosia Lis.
