Step into Fall!

September 20, 2024

We are nearing the end of September and heading into crisper air, colorful, crunching leaves, and all things pumpkin, spice and spooky! Here are some highlights for what is to come this fall at Westerly Library & Wilcox Park!

Visit the Makerspace and take a craft or make a craft! We have something for everyone with our Kids Take & Make, while the adults can grab Cheesecloth Ghosts with a Crafternoon To-Go. Families can also create together with Wizard Wands and Thanksgiving Table Runners in our Little and Big Craft Times. For nature lovers, head to the Kids Room Castle and use natural art supplies to make Pumpkin Seed Art or Acorn Necklaces. Stop in for our weekly Tween and Teen Crafternoons for fall-themed crafts, and snacks too! Our little ones can join us for Halloween and Pumpkin Patch themed Sensory Saturday playtime.

For those interested in learning more about foraging in the wilderness, join The 3 Foragers as they teach on Edible Plants and Fungi of Autumn.

Don't forget to pick up your pumpkins to decorate and enter into a contest, in our 3rd Annual Fall Fest & Pumpkin Stroll! Join us for an afternoon and evening of Halloween fun for all ages with free cider and donuts, voting on your favorite pumpkins, and fun activities in Wilcox Park!

If you enjoy a little spooky this season, join Eastern Connecticut Paranormal Society in presenting "The Truth Behind Investigating the Unknown" and the reality behind paranormal investigating. Additionally, we will have Ghost Hunting for Teens!

Enter the Digital Wilderness into October's Cybersecurity month where you'll find a Scams and Fraud Presentation with the Office of the Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Unit. Later in the month, we'll have Washington Trust VP, Corporate Security Officer to discuss Fraud Prevention. Visit our Tech department for handouts with helpful Cybersecurity resources, and don't forget to join their Tech Socials for further tech help needs!

Calling all baker friends! Join us for a special STEAM Engine to create the perfect algorithm for your delicious mini apple pie! November also brings us Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) and we are celebrating with a free screening of the Disney Pixar film "Coco"! Enjoy light refreshments and themed crafts - fun for all ages!

We hope to see you this fall season!
